GENDER MUTATION EXHIBIT - MAY 2004

This was a big event. Zilon and I had talked for years about doing something together and he brought the idea up again in the fall of 2003. He said that he was probably going to do an event with the people at Gender, tentatively called "Gender / Mutation", and he wanted me to be a part of it.

The timing was pretty cool. I had just started to work on my mannequin series (this was the first shot, done back in August 2003). It was the perfect opportunity for me to expand and exhibit the series. Over the next few months, the event evolved into an art exhibit featuring out respective works, a fashion show, dance performance and spoken word segment.

It was totally georgous outside on the opening night, the air overflowing with the electricity of early summer. Over 400 people showed up that night, making it an enourmous success. My thanks go out to the entire Gender crew (Mike, Leif, Brian, Dot, Richard) - none of this would have been possible without all your amazing support. Zilon, Kat Coric, Danielle, Louis, Sandra, Natasha - I thank you all for your energy!! Last, but definitely not least, I would like to thank my always amazing Michelle... xoxo
